Practice areas for this new associate would include a wide range of aviation law matters and general civil litigation with an emphasis on medical malpractice, personal injury, and commercial litigation. Recent Case Results
Gibson Guitar Corp. v. Paul Reed Smith Guitars: Gregg Ramos recently served as local counsel for Paul Reed Smith Guitars in a suit brought by Gibson Guitar Corp. claiming trademark infringement. Although the trial court ruled in favor of Gibson Guitar, the Sixth Circuit reversed the trial Court and ruled in favor of Paul Reed Smith. Breast Implant Litigation: Phillip North and Mary Clemons continue to assist over 100 women with their product liability claims against the manufacturers of silicone breast implants. The cases against Bristol Myers have been largely concluded and the settlement funds distributed and the settlement procedure is ongoing with the Dow Corning defendants.
Community Activities
Lupus Foundation: Renee Stewart is a member of the Lupus Foundation, former Chairof the organization, and active participant in the organization's charitable activities.
Sertoma Club of Nashville: Edward A. Hadley is a member of the Sertoma Club of Nashville. He has served as the organization's President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He continues to remain active in the organization.
Civil Air Patrol: Phillip North has attained the rank of Major in the Civil Air Patrol, a civilian auxiliary for the United States Air Force. CAP is a nation-wide organization of 60,000 volunteers consisting of pilots and ground team members who conduct over 90% of the search and rescue operations for missing aircraft in the continental United States. CAP also provides disaster relief and is involved in surveillance work for the Department of Homeland Security. CAP pilots flew more that 400 hours to assist relief efforts from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Major North serves as a volunteer pilot and as the Legal Officer for the Tennessee Wing. He was awarded the Commander’s Commendation Award For Outstanding Duty Performance for 2005. Major North and N114PR are pictured HERE .
Angel Flight: NPRJ attorney Phillip North has qualified with the Angel Flight organization as a volunteer pilot. This organization of volunteer pilots donate their time and aircraft to provide free air transportation for medical patients in need of specialized treatment and transplants who otherwise cannot afford commercial air travel. The Angel Flight organization also has a new program known as Homeland Security Emergency Air Transportation System (HSEATS) where qualified pilots provide support for the Department of Homeland Security such as the disaster relief efforts in Louisiana after Katrina and Rita. Phillip North has been approved as one of the HSEATS pilots for the South Central Region.
